  • Thanks to team OTSI , we had a nice session on Ophthalmic trauma prevention at the National Human Rights commission yesterday attended by all the concerned ministries where we could put forth all our suggestions. A follow up document is being now prepared by NHRC. Any suggestions and inputs will be most welcome Wish to thank team OTSI,team AIOS and Dr Rupesh and Annette for participation.   • Ocular trauma society of India lead by Dr Grover and his team for a historical day in the history of ophthalmic trauma:- 21st September 2022.
  • On this day, a team of ocular trauma society of India represented by Prof Grover, dr Mehul, dr shaken Singh, Dr Sanjiv mohan, Dr Purendra bhasin, Dr Nirmal Fredrick + AIOS President Dr Lalit Verma + AIOS secretary Prof Dr Namrata Sharma + Prof Rajesh Sinha (treasure) Prof J S Titiyal - advisor to Govt of India on eye Health strategies and prevention + supported by Dr Rupesh Agrawal and Annette from APOTS met national human rights commission ( NHRC) and representatives from 7 ministries of India to share a white paper on eye injury prevention. The meeting was chaired by Justice Arun Mishra ( chairman, NHRC) and thanks to Dr Purendra Bhasin who initiated process and personal interest by Mr Arun Mishra and supported by his team lead by Mr Harish Chaudhry.
  • All officials were sensitized and were happy to support the cause and assured for all kind of support.

    We need to thank all those who traveled to be present at this meeting from all parts of India and abroad to be present at the meeting.
    Rupesh’s travel from Singapore for physical presence just to be at this important meeting speaks volumes of his commitment to this cause. Thanks also to Annette for her presence and moving advocacy at the meeting. Yes it was an unprecedented opportunity to convey all about prevention and to bring about regulatory action from all Government and industrial stakeholders. We had the presence of all the senior team of NHRC and senior officials of all concerned ministries at the meeting.
    The most important will be the follow up action planned by NHRC with all concerned ministries where inputs from all of us will be critical.
    Team OTSI especially Purendra, Nirmal and Mehul played a crucial role. Presence of all AIOS office bearers and Chief of the apex institute,AIIMS and advisor to Govt of India was also very significant.
    Thank you all for all the help extended at all times whenever needed. Three cheers to the Ophthalmic trauma movement!Ashok Grover
